A young painter has revealed how bees became the centrepiece of her art by pure coincidence.
Nataša Rajković has been passionate about painting since her childhood. But things took an astonishing turn two years ago when she discovered a photograph depicting bees.
Reflecting on this decisive moment in her life, Nataša told NewsX, a news platform of which the Bee News community is a part: “I was working on a collage when I saw this image of bees in a magazine. It immediately caught my attention.”
Nataša said she had been fascinated by the pollinators’ colours and shapes ever since.
The 27-year-old from Belgrade admitted: “I just had to start portraying different types of bees.”
Due to their unmatched precision, Nataša’s bee paintings, which are nothing less than heartfelt declarations of love for the beauty of nature, leave an everlasting impact on anyone who ever observed them in an exhibition or online.
Asked why she started gilding the images’ backgrounds, Nataša explained: “This has to do with their value for life on earth. By portraying them, I want to spread light and hope.
“Many people got in touch to tell me how much they loved my art. Everyone encouraged me to continue focusing on this topic. This felt like an exterior confirmation in addition to my gut feeling that I’m heading in the right direction.”
Nataša, who studied art in Belgrade, looks back on exhibitions in Serbia, Croatia and Germany.
She said: “I’ve managed to sell my paintings to collectors from Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria and many other countries. I’m not able to make a living from it yet. However, this is my goal.”
The artist and nursing care student set up a website to present her paintings, which cost between EUR 100 (GBP 85) and EUR 450 (GBP 384), to people from all around the world. On Instagram, Nataša has more than 1,100 followers.
NewsX asked Nataša, who is passionate about the art of J. M. William Turner, whether she had any long-term connections to apiculture.
She explained: “I have no experience regarding beekeeping so I got in touch with apiarists on the internet. This inspires me.”
Nataša concluded: “There are around 20,000 bee species in the world. Imagine how wonderful it would be to portray each of them!”
Its is a wonderful person also to correspond with and other wise she makes very fine nice works on different materials many of them are from Bees, and are in need to see the art of this artist.
