Ben Moore from the Melbourne suburb of Blackburn South revealed that the quality and quantity of honey “exceeded expectations” in 2023.

Speaking to NewsX of which the Bee News community is a part, the owner of ‘Ben’s Bees’ confirmed that 2023 could have been a “record-breaking season” for his business.

Ben, who is also an expert on hive removals, explained: “In the world of beekeeping, success often hinges on the whims of nature and the diligence of the beekeeper.

“This year, for one particular beekeeping business, these elements combined in perfect harmony, leading to an exceptional season of honey production.”

Looking back, Ben said: “The year started with promising signs as the weather patterns favoured beekeeping activities. With an ideal balance of sunshine and rain, flowers across the countryside bloomed profusely, providing ample nectar for the bees.”

He concluded: “This natural bounty translated into a significant increase in honey production compared to previous years. In 2023, we have produced more than four tonnes of honey.”

Over the years, several videos and posts of the Australian apiarist have gone viral.

In November 2022, Ben published a short clip in which he stretched out his hand to the entrance of one of his hives.

Ben found unanimous support when he issued an appeal to support small firms in June 2023 by posting a list of activities anyone can do for free. It contained tasks such as “cheer them on” and “write a review.”

In December 2023, Ben delighted his followers with a video of a koala sitting on a tree near one of his apiaries. Speaking to NewsX, Ben called the encounter his “highlight of the year.”
