Stressed Company Exec Becomes A Beekeeper

A strained company executive has revealed how she found new strength in beekeeping when she aimed for a purposeful pandemic lockdown activity.

For many years, Aurélie Le Corre was a listed enterprise’s administration and finances officer.

When she suffered from burnout, Aurélie realised that she must take a radical turn.

Aurélie – who stems from a family with a long history of beekeeping – told L’Écho de l’Armor et de l’Argoat, a local newspaper: “I’ve had enough of that kind of life in Paris. I realised that it wasn’t in tune with my personal principles.”

To recover and discover new perspectives, Aurélie decided to move in with her parents in the countryside in northwestern France during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Reflecting on this decisive period in her life, she said: “I’ve enjoyed attending the hives with my dad. Witnessing the birth of a queen bee was a pivotal moment. Such an event is a truly magical occasion in the life of every apiarist.”

Aurélie added: “This was when I told myself: ‘I can delve into this adventure and set up my own business.”

Last year, Aurélie obtained her beekeeping expert certificate. Today, she manages 150 hives installed in the vicinity of Guincamp, Brittany.

At Aurélie’s store, “Une saison aux abeilles” in the nearby town of Saint-Agathon, a wide range of products such as different types of honey as well as candy, propolis and honey vinegar are on offer.

Aurélie concludes: “Creating close ties with nature and respecting biodiversity means everything to me.”
